Butterscotch Oatmeal Cookies

1/2  package butterscotch chips

3/4 cup plain flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 cup shortening

bullet

1/4 + 2 Tablespoon sugar

1/4 + 2 Tablespoon brown sugar

1 beaten egg

bullet

1 1/2 teaspoon hot water

bullet

1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla flavoring

1 cup oatmeal

bullet

about 1 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Cream shortening and sugar
Add beaten eggs, then hot water
Add flour mixed with soda
Add chopped nuts
Add oatmeal, vanilla, and butterscotch chips
Drop by teaspoon on ungreased cookie sheet
Bake at 375 F for 10-12 minutes
