| Have you ever heard of the ship, the USS Badger?
She was built in 1889 as a 4784-ton merchant ship and named the Yumuri.
The Navy bought her, renamed her the USS Badger, and converted
her for duty in the Spanish-American War where she saw duty as
a cruiser and a transport. In 1900 the War Department took
possession, renamed her the Lawton, and used her as a US Army transport.
